Whimsy meets darkness in Z-PAC’s latest unique show

Z-PAC Theatre invites audiences on a wild ride from the absurd to the profound in a genre-defying double bill: Dr Fibjoy’s Amazing Theatrical Exclusion and Demise: A Series of Tragic Tales.

First, prepare for high-octane hilarity with Dr Fibjoy’s Amazing Theatrical Exclusion, directed by Jonathan Sharp.

Packed with physical comedy, masks, live music, and a touch of improvisation, this riotous show follows the outrageous Dr Fibjoy—a snake oil salesman turned storyteller—as he spins tales inspired by Eastern European folklore.

“This show is about the joy of live performance,” says Jonathan. “It’s unpredictable, messy, magical, and full of heart.”

Performed by an ensemble of young adult actors, the show delivers a colourful tapestry of characters and skits celebrating community, culture, and chaos. Whether you’re 9 or 90, you’ll leave smiling.

Then, shift gears for Demise: A Series of Tragic Tales, directed by Nicky Fernandes—a darkly comic collection of four short plays that explore trauma, human fragility, and the absurdity of existence.

“Demise tackles painful subjects with humour and empathy,” says Nicky.

“It invites audiences to laugh, squirm, reflect—and confront what we often shy away from.

It’s raw, real—and weirdly relatable” From a lovesick hitman in ‘Sweet Comic Valentine’ to the twisted desperation of ‘Reasons Why You Should Eat Me’, the plays traverse decades and psyches.

‘Cancel My Appointments’ explores existential dread with bleak hilarity, while ‘Fishing’ lands an emotional punch beneath calm waters.

Together, Dr Fibjoy and Demise offer two strikingly different but equally captivating sides of theatre.

Don’t miss this provocative show that will have you roaring with laughter one moment and catching your breath the next.

Performances at Z-PAC Theatre run over three weekends from 15-31 August.
