TRIPLETS born two months apart, missing semi-tropical spiders and a lustful widow are just a few of the obstacles facing Inspector Drake in the latest show at Z-PAC Theatre which opens on March 8th for a limited season.
Director David Coleman says that ‘Inspector Drake and the Black Widow’ is a classic British farce full of twists, jokes and female characters who all look the same and it’s bound to entertain the audience.
“We were rehearsing this hilarious comedy back in 2020 when COVID closed the theatre and it’s great to finally bring this show to life – there is a generous supply of quips and one-liners alongside plenty of comedy props and visual gags that keep the laughs coming.”
Bringing together three of the cast from 2023’s smash hit ‘Dry Rot’ audiences can be sure that this cross between ‘Inspector Clouseau’ and ‘And Then There Were None’ will have you laughing out loud and forgetting about the outside world.
Shane “Scooter” King who plays Sergeant Plod is relishing his character, “Plod is so keen to help but his competence never quite matches that enthusiasm - Inspector Drake not only has to battle the murderers but also his colleagues’ attempts to lend a hand”.
Leigh Scheltinga plays the hysterical maid who finds a dead body whilst dusting at 3am and says the play is an “amusing parody of the Whodunnit genre, a blend of ‘Cluedo’ and ‘Mousetrap’ that’s packed with lots of visual gags, adult innuendo all topped with a touch of cross-dressing.”
‘Inspector Drake and the Black Widow’ opens at Z-PAC Theatre in Scarness on Friday March 8th and runs until March 24th.
Ticket prices are $27.50 for adults, $22 concession and $16.50 for students.
Group booking discounts are also available. Tickets can be booked from the Z-PAC Theatre website - zpactheatre.com.au
