Time to talk dollars and cents at Finance Matters for Seniors

Time to talk dollars and cents at Finance Matters for Seniors.
In our ever-changing world, Australian seniors are facing a range of challenges when it comes to finance.
Cost of living pressures, sophisticated financial scams, aged care and pension planning are just some of the issues older Australians are facing.
This Seniors Month, HBNC wants to help demystify money matters and equip our older residents with the skills, knowledge and support they need.
That’s why we are proud to present Finance Matters for Seniors – a free conference aimed at empowering older people through expert advice and training.
The Event, delivered in partnership with Seniors Legal and Support Service and funded by the Department of Families, Seniors, Disability Services and Child Safety co-ordinated by COTA Queensland, will explore vital financial issues in a common sense, easy-to-understand way, Wide Bay Burnett Community Legal Services (WBBCLS) Principal Solicitor, Raymond Hill said.
“This event is for any senior with questions or concerns about finances,” Raymond said.
“Whether you are concerned about scams, want to be proactive about aged care planning or need support to navigate complex systems, we encourage you to come along.”
The conference will feature expert advice and sessions including:
- Aged Pension Choices
- Superannuation
- Income Streams
- Home Equity Access Scheme
- Savings & Consumer Protection For Seniors
- Financial Information for Aged Care
- Scams, Frauds & Digital Safety
The agenda features presentations from UnitingCare, LegalAid Queensland, Services Australia and ADA Australia.
Hands-on sessions and one-on-one engagement with presenters will also be available throughout the day.
More than this, it will be an opportunity for older residents to connect with others at a similar stage of life, facing similar challenges.
“There is nothing quite like sharing your experiences with others who can relate and understand,” Raymond said.
“Having a room full of older Australians asking questions and learning about finance fundamentals will be a reminder that you are not alone.”
Finance Matters for Seniors will be held October 22nd from 9.30am to 3pm at the Hervey Bay Community Centre, 22 Charles St Pialba.
It is a free event but bookings are essential.
Transport is available on request.
