Threads of hope; craft show supports hospice

THREADS of tradition, colour, and community spirit will weave together this August as Hervey Bay hosts one of the region’s most anticipated creative showcases – the Fraser Coast Hospice Quilt and Craft Show 2025.

Set against the backdrop of Hervey Bay’s vibrant arts scene, this two-day event will transform Hervey Bay TAFE into a haven for lovers of craft, colour, and community connection on Saturday 30th and Sunday 31st August, from 9:00 AM to 4:00 PM each day.

Organised by Fraser Coast Hospice, the event is more than just a celebration of beautiful, handcrafted quilts and artisan goods — it’s a fundraiser with heart.

All proceeds go directly toward supporting the hospice’s mission of providing fee-free, compassionate palliative care for Fraser Coast locals in need.

Visitors will be treated to a dazzling display of quilts made by skilled local quilters, alongside stalls packed with handmade treasures, artisan crafts, and live demonstrations of traditional techniques.

From patchwork to pottery, embroidery to eco-art — there’s something to inspire everyone.

"We're thrilled to bring together our community's incredible creative talents for such an important cause," said Alicia Trimingham-Turl, CEO-Director of Care at Fraser Coast Hospice.

"This event showcases the generosity and community spirit that makes our work possible – people using their skills and passions to ensure we can continue providing compassionate care when it's needed most."

With nearly $60,000 needed every month to keep the hospice running, the Quilt and Craft Show plays a vital role in raising the funds necessary to continue providing high-quality, fee-free care for adults with terminal illness.

The hospice — a six-bed, purpose-built facility opened in October 2021 — offers a calm, supportive environment where families can step away from the burden of caregiving and focus on simply being together.
