Star Gala honours Fraser Coast heroes

THE 2025 Star Gala Staff Awards was a glittering celebration of the people at the heart of Fraser Coast Disability Services (FCDS).
Held at the Hervey Bay Boat Club, the event brought together staff and families to honour the everyday superstars whose compassion, resilience and commitment change lives across the Fraser Coast.
With live entertainment, fine dining and plenty of excitement, the evening recognised staff achievements across five award categories.
Awards were presented for Leadership, Innovation, Rising Star, Teamwork, and Outstanding Contribution – each highlighting a different way staff members bring the organisation’s vision to life.
More than just an awards ceremony, the Star Gala was a chance to pause, reflect and celebrate the values of Purpose, Joy and Independence that guide every aspect of the organisation.
Guests applauded as stories were shared of staff who go above and beyond, bringing care, creativity and strength to their work every day.
For Director Josie, the night was about honouring the team above all else.
“Tonight isn't just another event, it's a celebration of you – our team, our people, our everyday superstars. You’re the heart of the organisation, and I couldn’t be more grateful,” she told staff during her address.
The heart Josie referred to is one that beats across every service Fraser Coast Disability Services offers – from supported independent living and in home care to community support, respite, social opportunities and coordination.
Staff are the driving force behind empowering people with disability to “design their best life,” ensuring that the founding values are lived every day in homes and communities across the region.
The organisation itself began from a deeply personal place, when Josie recognised the lack of support available for one of her family members and chose to create a service that would fill the gap.
The annual Star Gala recognises the dedication and spirit of staff who bring the Fraser Coast Disability Services vision to life.
More than a night of awards, it is an expression of gratitude to those whose daily efforts shape a stronger, more inclusive community – and a reminder that behind every service delivered is a team of people working with purpose, joy and independence.
