Play With Your Kids – prepare for school start
PLAY With Your Kids (PWYK) is proud to be running the Transitioning to School/Kindy Readiness Program throughout Term 4, 2025, with much-loved local teacher, Mrs Robyn.
A registered teacher with 40 years of experience, Mrs Robyn currently teaches primary school students and brings a deep understanding of how children grow, develop, and learn through the ages.
“We feel incredibly lucky to have Mrs Robyn, who has been volunteering her time with PWYK for many years,” says Sheenah Heinonen, Family, Children and Youth Service Manager at the Hervey Bay Neighbourhood Centre.
“Her generosity, passion, and gentle approach make her a treasured part of our team.”
Each Monday morning, families are invited to join a supportive and practical program that focuses on the skills children need to start school feeling ready and confident.
The sessions give parents simple, meaningful ways to support learning at home, covering areas such as language development, listening, numeracy, fine and gross motor skills, and independence — all essential foundations for a smooth start to school life.
“Parents are their child’s first teacher,” adds Ms Heinonen.
“When parents understand what helps children thrive in their early years, they can support their child’s confidence and wellbeing as they take this exciting next step.”
Mrs Robyn creates a warm and welcoming space where families can learn, share ideas, and explore how everyday play builds children’s confidence and love of learning.
Families with children starting kindy or school in 2026 are warmly invited to come along on Mondays from 9:00 am to 11:15 am at Play With Your Kids, Hervey Bay, during Term 4 2025.
