ON MONDAY, 22nd July 2024, the Fraser Coast Hospice received a generous $20,000 donation from Older Men Unlimited, Hervey Bay. Several committee members visited the Hospice for a tour and morning tea.
Opened in October of 2021, the Fraser Coast Hospice has cared for more than 500 terminally ill people in just under three years of operation.
The facility has six inpatient palliative care beds available and supports people and their families within the last days and weeks of their lives.
At a cost of over $2 million each year, the facility needs to raise over $725,000 through community and business donations.
“The funds will contribute to our operational costs, providing fee-free palliative care for terminally ill people in our community,” said Chief Executive Officer – Director of Care, Alicia Trimingham-Turl.
“We sincerely appreciate the support of our community and groups like Older Men Unlimited.”
Older Men Unlimited is an independent voluntary body providing community support for older men of every circumstance, especially those at risk of depression, dementia, and suicide.
