Ride for pain support rolls into Hervey Bay

HERVEY Bay will welcome the 2025 Pain Revolution Rural Outreach Tour on Sunday, 24 August, offering a free community event designed to help people living with chronic pain take back control of their health and wellbeing.

The session will be held at 4pm at the Hervey Bay Community Centre, 22 Charles Street, Pialba, and is part of a week-long cycling tour through regional Queensland.

The tour spans over 800 kilometres, travelling from Bundaberg to Caloundra, and brings together scientists, health professionals, educators, and individuals with lived experience of chronic pain.

Their goal is to share knowledge and provide practical strategies to help people better understand and manage their pain.

Chronic pain affects one in five Australians, but the impact is more severe in rural and regional areas due to limited access to healthcare services.

The Pain Revolution aims to bridge that gap by offering community-based education and support to improve outcomes for people living outside major cities.

The community event in Hervey Bay will include expert-led presentations, Q&A sessions, interactive displays, and access to the Brain Bus—a mobile lab that uses engaging activities to help people understand how pain works in the body and brain.

The program is designed to be inclusive and beneficial for a broad audience, including those who experience chronic pain themselves, carers, support workers, and health professionals.

The Pain Revolution promotes evidence-based information and aims to improve what is known as pain literacy—the ability to understand and act on the causes and contributors to pain.

It also encourages connection between individuals and local support networks, creating stronger community responses to long-term health challenges.

By raising awareness and delivering free, science-informed resources directly to regional towns, the tour plays a vital role in empowering people to make informed decisions about their pain care.

The 2025 initiative is proudly supported by Country to Coast Queensland (CCQ) and the University of South Australia, both long-time advocates for rural health improvement.

Residents of Hervey Bay and surrounding areas are encouraged to attend the session and take advantage of this unique opportunity to learn, connect, and build confidence in managing chronic pain.
