Once on the brink of folding, the Fraser Coast Mountain Bike Club Inc. has come roaring back to life with renewed passion, a strong committee, and a clear vision for the future.
Thanks to a dedicated group of local riders who stepped up last October, the club is not only surviving—it’s thriving.
The revival began when a new committee was formed, driven by a shared love for mountain biking.
What followed was a transformation powered by grassroots energy and a commitment to community.
Since taking over, the committee has launched a series of initiatives laying the foundation for a better club.
Among their first efforts was a successful fundraising raffle for a mountain bike, generously donated by Adrenalin Cycling.
A second raffle is currently underway, with the draw scheduled for 13 August.
These raffles have brought in funds to support the club’s plans.
Another initiative is Gears & Cheers, a sponsorship program connecting local businesses with riders.
Selected from a range of applicants, these sponsored riders wear the business’s logo on their club kit. In return, the club provides promotion for the sponsor, creating a win-win for businesses and riders alike.
Key goals for the club include securing a storage shed for equipment closer to the trails.
The committee is also working with Fraser Coast Regional Council to improve signage at trailheads and along main roads, and to develop a formal carpark.
These upgrades are essential to make the trails more accessible.
The club has also built a strong relationship with the Toogoom and District Community Association, reinforcing its commitment to the wider community.
The club’s work is visible on the trails.
Hosting Come and Try Days, bike maintenance workshops, monthly ladies’ rides, school holiday coaching clinics, and working bees are just some of the ways the club is building skills and friendships. Social rides, both locally and on the Sunshine Coast, are also part of the calendar.
The club has been active at local markets, including upcoming appearances at the Pier and Nikenbah markets.
These stalls promote the sport, the club, and its fundraising efforts, while welcoming newcomers and building a strong sense of belonging.
The calendar includes:
- Trail working bees to maintain and enhance the Toogoom trail network
- Regular social rides
- Monthly ladies’ rides
- Trail-side bike repair workshops
- Free holiday coaching clinics for members
These events are just the start. The real action, however, is in the trails.
The club is collaborating with Queensland Parks and Wildlife Service and Fraser Coast Council to upgrade trails, add features, and develop new routes.
These improvements suit all skill levels—from beginners to adrenaline-seeking pros. A new jump line is also in the works.
“Without a club, these trails wouldn’t be maintained or improved. A club is required to have the necessary permissions to develop the trails,” said Club President Chris O’Brien.
“This is why having an active, supported club is essential, not just for our current members, but for the future of the sport here on the Fraser Coast,” he said.
The club is driven by community. Every event reflects a culture of inclusion and support. Whether hosting other clubs or on away trips, the focus is on connection and encouragement.
To reflect its fresh start, the club recently launched a rebrand, including a new logo, t-shirts, hats, stickers, banners, and soon-to-arrive riding jerseys. This identity package is helping build pride and unity among members.
“We’re not just maintaining trails, we’re building something bigger,” said Mr O’Brien. “A community where everyone feels welcome, valued, and part of something awesome,” he said.

Upcoming Event: Dirt Day – Sunday 10 August
The club is calling for volunteers for a major trail working bee. With support from their machinery sponsor, they’ll be relocating a load of dirt to rebuild and repair features on Trails 7 and 11. This marks the first step in the club’s trail development plan—made possible through their growing partnership with Parks.
The Fraser Coast Mountain Bike Club is back—and just getting started.
