THE FUTURE of the Fraser Coast workforce was in the spotlight as TAFE Queensland celebrated its Apprentice and Trainee Awards at the Hervey Bay campus restaurant, Images.

The evening recognised the outstanding dedication, skill, and achievements of apprentices and trainees who have completed their studies over the past six months.

Proudly supported by Trade Mutt, Trade Tools and Bunnings Warehouse, the night was filled with energy, entertainment, and well-deserved recognition across a wide array of vocational fields.

TAFE Queensland’s General Manager for the East Coast region, Mark Reilly, described the awards as a vital step in acknowledging those shaping the region’s economic future.

“We know that apprentices and trainees with the right skills help power Queensland’s economy,” Mr Reilly said.

“According to the latest data, nine out of ten jobs predicted to see the most growth in the next five years will likely require a VET qualification. That makes the work these graduates are doing – and the training they’ve received – all the more important.”

Mr Reilly also noted that momentum is building in the region, with new projects such as the Queensland Train Manufacturing Project creating hundreds of fresh career opportunities.

“This is a boon for the region, but one that requires skilled workers with the confidence and capability to get the job done.

TAFE Queensland is committed to providing the quality, hands-on training that will set our state on course for a strong future.”

The awards night brought together local employers, industry representatives, training providers and community members, providing a platform to celebrate the dedication and achievements of apprentices and trainees across diverse trades and vocations.

The event also offered valuable networking opportunities for attendees to connect and discuss future workforce needs.

Winners were announced across multiple categories, with awards going to standout apprentices and trainees in areas including beauty, electrotechnology, and engineering.
