The Mayor and Councillors for the Fraser Coast Regional Council have been officially sworn in, following the Electoral Commission of Queensland’s declaration of the results of the recent election.

Family and close friends watched on as the Mayor and Councillors took their declaration of office at the Swearing-In Ceremony at the Brolga Theatre and Convention Centre in Maryborough.

Fraser Coast Mayor George Seymour said it had been an honour to serve as Mayor for the past six years, and he was looking forward to continuing to serve the community for the next four years.

“The new Council includes a mix of experience and new faces who will all bring their unique talents and traits to represent the people of the Fraser Coast,” he said.

“The new Council will have a lot of work to do, but I am confident all Councillors will work together to ensure the Fraser Coast continues to be a great place to visit and an even better place to live.”

Councillors spent the following days going through an induction program to better understand how Council operates, and their roles and responsibilities as elected representatives.
