HERVEY Bay locals looking to kick-start or advance their careers have a golden opportunity at their fingertips, with TAFE Queensland’s highly regarded Scholarship Program returning for its 2025 round.

Now celebrating its 10th year, the program has already changed the lives of more than 720 Queenslanders, awarding over $3.4 million in scholarships to help people pursue vocational education and training across the state — including here in Hervey Bay.

TAFE Queensland CEO John Tucker said the milestone marks a decade of helping students overcome barriers and reach their goals.

“Over the past ten years, we’ve seen just how transformative vocational education can be,” Mr Tucker said. 

This program removes financial and social hurdles, giving people the support they need to thrive in their studies and careers.

Hervey Bay students are among those encouraged to apply with applications open now.

Whether you’re finishing school, changing careers, or upskilling, the program offers 100 scholarships valued at $5,000 each to support study-related costs — including course fees, textbooks, and living expenses.

Courses range from Certificate III to Advanced Diplomas, Bachelor, and even Masters degrees, available online or at over 60 campuses, including TAFE Queensland’s Hervey Bay location.

With more than 1,000 applications received each year, TAFE is calling on Fraser Coast locals to share their stories and take the next step toward a brighter future.

The scholarships are made possible through the generous support of sponsors such as the Australian Maritime Safety Authority, RACQ, Microsoft, QLD Hydro, and more.

Local community groups and schools are also encouraged to spread the word, helping connect eligible students to this opportunity.

Past recipients have gone on to achieve significant personal and professional success, contributing back to their industries and local regions.
