Free course helps young entrepreneurs thrive
1 min read

FROM side projects to start ups, young people across Hervey Bay are being given the tools to transform their ideas into real income through a free business program now available on the Fraser Coast.

The How To Start A Side Hustle course is offered as part of the Fraser Coast Young Business Leaders Program, a local initiative funded by the Australian Government through the Social Shift Institute.

Designed for people aged 18 to 30, it provides free access to online learning modules that break down the essentials of launching a small venture.

Organisers say the program is aimed at beginners and first-time entrepreneurs who may not know where to start but have the drive to try.

Whether it’s selling handmade products, offering services, or testing an innovative idea, the course is structured to guide participants step by step through creating and growing a side hustle.

The modules cover everything from recognising personal strengths and brainstorming viable business concepts to creating a realistic plan, managing time effectively, and marketing
to potential customers.

Importantly, the program also addresses the everyday challenge of balancing a side hustle alongside work, study, and personal commitments.

Hervey Bay locals won’t just be learning theory.

The program features insights from experienced entrepreneurs, case studies from real businesses, and practical strategies that can be applied immediately.

It’s designed to be actionable, giving participants the tools to leave with not just ideas, but a pathway forward.

The program encourages participants to think about long term sustainability, helping them understand how a small side hustle can gradually grow into a steady stream of income or develop into a full scale business over time.

Another key element is the opportunity to connect with like minded young people in the Fraser Coast region.

Building a side hustle can sometimes feel isolating, so creating a network of peers who share the same ambitions adds motivation and long term support.

Hervey Bay has always been a community of creativity and innovation, and leaders hope this program will unlock even more opportunities for young residents.
