Fraser Coast Mates Golf Day celebrates support

THE ANNUAL Fraser Coast Mates Golf Day incorporating the popular Flourish Luncheon, was an outstanding success.

The day included the announcement of the winning bid for ex-Olympian Lisa Curry’s 2000 Sydney Olympic torch she donated to the organisation.

Over 400 people attended the Hervey Bay Golf Club to support a stronger awareness for Mental Health and Suicide Prevention while also to play for the Geoff Redpath Memorial Trophy.

The Flourish Luncheon had a surprise guest for the day, with Lisa Curry attending and her professional dancer daughter Morgan Gruell entertaining the ladies.

At the final presentations for the day, it was announced the Walter Iezzi Property Group had made a successful bid for the iconic Olympic memorabilia of $10,000 that will fund counselling support for locals.

The Walter Iezzi Property Group is the developer for the eight-storey Topaz Shelley Beach project, a luxury beachfront apartment living complex to begin construction soon on the Hervey Bay Esplanade.

The Sunshine Coast based developer was made aware of the auction through a friendship with Lisa Curry and was instantly interested in registering a bid.

Helen Inman, Walter Iezzi Property Group Hervey Bay Sales Executive, says they were honoured to support Fraser Coast Mates.

“We’re thrilled to have created a partnership with Fraser Coast Mates and it’s an honour to support their important work”, says Helen.

Fraser Coast Mates president Darren Bosley says the generous support will provide counselling for people who reach out to the organisation, particularly in urgent times.

“So often we hear instances of someone suffering in silence with mental illness and unsure of the steps to take for help” Mr. Bosley said.

“There are very important services available that we aim to introduce people to and begin their journey to find the right tools for their individual wellbeing”.

It was an emotional final presentation with the announcement and the Geoff Redpath Memorial Trophy being awarded to his sons for the first time, Zac and Lucas Redpath.

The day was further celebrated by Fraser Coast Mates with another $40,000 raised from the event that continues to grow in numbers each year.
