Comical twist given to 'Sense and Sensibility'

Z-PAC Theatre proudly presents a revamped adaptation of Jane Austen's "Sense and Sensibility" written by Kate Hamill!

This lively and innovative stage version embraces Austen's beloved lines, characters, and themes while adding a modern twist of humour and vitality.

The play is a blend of contemporary and period staging following the fortunes and challenges of the Dashwood sisters, who face destitution after their father's sudden passing.

Sisters Elinor and Marianne navigate the gossip-filled Georgian England, confronting societal norms, financial limitations, and the complexities of love, romance, and suitors.

Get ready for a galloping journey through Austen's timeless world!

“It is a play full of delight, gossip, misinformation, naughty plotting and laugh-out-loud antics,” said production director Theresa Saunders.

“Audiences will love the dichotomy of characters and relentless action that still remarkably reflects the Jane Austen world and its preoccupations with real estate, money, class, reputation and the general stability of life.”

“The play’s innovation comes from theatrical tools like actors playing multiple roles, a minimalist set and a mix of Regency and contemporary music, props and costumes,” Ms Saunders said.

“It is fast and full of energy.”

“Even those who have not had the pleasure of reading Austen’s original novel will fall in love with this inventive, clever but still faithful version of Sense and Sensibility.”

Enjoy an evening with the incorrigible Mrs Jennings and Sir John and all the Gossips as Elinor, Marianne, Colonel Brandon, Willoughby and Edward fall in love, out and in again, before your very eyes!
