FRASER Coast businesses, groups, and residents are encouraged to participate in Seniors Month 2025 by joining the Over 50s Lifestyle Expo and the Seniors Digital Photographic Competition.
The Fraser Coast Regional Council’s Seniors Liaison Officer, Juls De Waard, announced that exhibitors are now being sought for the Expo, which will take place on Friday, 3 October, at the Hervey Bay Baptist Church.
Ms De Waard highlighted that the Expo has been a popular part of the Fraser Coast community for over 22 years.
“It’s one of the most highly anticipated events during Seniors Month, offering an opportunity for people to come together over shared interests, passions, and a sense of community,” she said.
The Expo provides a wonderful chance for exhibitors to connect with the senior community in a friendly, welcoming environment.
Typically attracting large crowds, the event features up to 80 exhibitor sites.
These stalls offer a wide range of services and products, including travel, health, legal advice, retirement living, mobility aids, hobbies, and more.
Ms De Waard encouraged businesses from all sectors to get involved, whether they provide services like health and fitness programs and aged care support, or offer products such as mobility aids, sleep apnoea equipment, and home security systems.
Additionally, the Seniors Digital Photographic Competition is back in 2025 with the theme ‘Enjoying Retirement on the Fraser Coast’.
Ms De Waard noted that the competition is a wonderful way for residents to share their talents and experiences.
This year, the competition includes two categories: ‘Family and Friends’ and ‘Hobbies and Interests’.
For the first time, entries must be submitted in digital format, with each photo featuring at least one person aged over 50, and the photographer must also be over 50. All entries will be displayed throughout Seniors Month.
Businesses interested in securing a stall at the Expo, or residents wanting to enter the competition, can contact Ms De Waard at 4194 2441 or via email at juls.dewaard@frasercoast.qld.gov.au.
Sponsorship opportunities are also available for the Expo, Photographic Competition, and the popular Seniors Talent Quest, which will take place on Sunday, 19 October.
Sponsors can gain valuable exposure and connect with the growing senior demographic in the region. A full program of events will be released in the coming months.
