Major Funding Boost for Bayside College
IN HERVEY Bay, investment in education continues to take centre stage as the State Government confirms substantial funding for major capital works at one of the region’s key non-state schools.
The announcement, delivered by State Member for Hervey Bay David Lee MP, highlights the role of targeted government programs in easing the financial burden of large-scale infrastructure projects and ensuring local students benefit from modern, purpose-built learning environments.
The Queensland Government’s long-standing commitment to providing capital assistance to non-state schools is delivered through programs such as the Capital Assistance Supplementary Scheme (CASS) and the External Infrastructure Subsidy Scheme (EISS).
These programs are designed to support eligible schools undertaking important building projects that might otherwise place significant strain on resources.
The Government provides capital assistance through “a number of programs
that significantly ease the costs associated with capital projects at eligible non-state schools.”
Among the most recent beneficiaries is Bayside Christian College in Urraween, which will receive a substantial allocation to support its next stage of development.
The funding includes $5,250,000 for the construction of new science and digital technology facilities, a hospitality practices kitchen, learning commons, storage and laundry areas, and updated tuckshop and amenity spaces.
The works also incorporate solar panels, water tanks, siteworks and professional fees, signalling a forward-thinking approach to both educational quality and sustainability.
Additionally, $570,000 has been allocated for the construction of a new car park to support the growing school community.
“Bayside Christian College has received 5.2 million for the construction of three science laboratories, science preparation room, two digital technology laboratories, learning commons, hospitality practices kitchen, storage, laundry, cold room, tuckshop, covered outdoor learning areas, amenities, enclosed travel, external travel, lift, solar panels and water tanks.
“There will also be 570,000 for the construction of a car park.
“Investing into our students ensures that our future is secure,” said Mr Lee.
