Large donation supports youth’s mental health

HBNC are delighted to announce a generous donation of $10,000 from Red Bike Adventures Inc.

This contribution will be instrumental in providing crucial support for the mental well-being of young people on the Fraser Coast.

Red Bike Adventures Inc. have long been passionate about supporting the community support, and their latest donation reaffirms their commitment to making a positive impact on our local youth.

This generous contribution will help fund counselling sessions for young people, ensuring that they have access to the support they need.

Tanya Stevenson, CEO of HBNC, expressed her heartfelt gratitude for Red Bike Adventures Inc.’s generosity and support.

“We are truly grateful for Red Bike Adventures Inc.’s incredible generosity. This donation will go a long way in providing essential counselling services for the young people in our community, empowering them to overcome obstacles and achieve their full potential. It’s heartwarming to see local businesses like Red Bike Adventures Inc. stepping up to support our youth,” Tanya said.

Red Bike Adventures previously donated $20,000 to this cause, all raised through their tireless, volunteer-led fundraising efforts.

This continued support helps provide consistent access to mental health services for young people in our region – a crucial need, as highlighted in the recently-released in the State of Youth Report 2023.

The report also refers to a recent survey, 2022 Mission Australia Youth Survey, that our Youth identifies Mental Health in the top three most important issues in Australia for young people along with the environment, and equity & discrimination.

This survey also declares young people listed mental health as their second most personal challenge (22.7% surveyed), behind School Challenges (41.5%) as the highest personal challenge faced by our youth.

Tanya said while some of the data could be confronting, the survey helped provide a clearer picture of what young people in our community are facing.

It’s important to remember that without data, it is harder to provide appropriate solutions and support networks and previous Fraser Coast Youth Surveys have helped shaped HBNC's approach to youth support services and we now have a number of programs in place that directly respond to the issues raised by the data we have gathered," Tanya said.
