Japanese Scooter Fanatic heading our way

A Japanese backpacker, travelling from Melbourne to Cairns is scooting his way to Hervey Bay tomorrow.

Scootering fanatic @uni.kick is pushing his way up the east coast of Australia on a non-motorised ride.
The six-month journey began in Melbourne and will end in Cairns, and it’s not his first mission. Uni took his first epic adventure back in Japan where he took 10 months to scooter his way across his homeland.

Now in Australia Uni is about halfway through his epic journey, sleeping in a tent most nights, but after extensive media coverage with Channel 7, News Corp and Escape, communities are now following Uni’s journey on Facebook.

The young adventurer is now being offered accommodation and adventures by many people in the places he visits. While his English is not fluent, it’s his aim to learn as much as he can during his travels.

Uni’s is documenting his travels on his Instagram page and talks about the quirky towns and attractions he sees on his travels.

Uni arrives on the Fraser Coast tomorrow and will visit the Hervey Bay Visitor Information Centre at 2pm, Friday April 28.

Sanctuary Lakes owners Rod and Deb have graciously offered Uni a reprieve from his tent on Friday night and have booked him in for a night at their Fauna Retreat. Uni will get to put his scooter to the side for one night to enjoy the scenic surrounds and feed the resident turtles during this stay.

On Saturday April 29, Rebecca and Doug from Whalesong Cruises have generously offered to host Uni on their Beach and Barbecue tour to ensure the international traveller gets to see the sights. Uni will look for dolphins, turtles and seabirds, swim, kayak and explore a stunning remote island beach on the West Coast of Fraser Island before he heads off again on Sunday.
