Hervey Bay electorate office officially opens
THE HERVEY Bay electorate office for Federal Member for Hinkler David Batt has officially opened, providing a new connection point for locals to raise concerns, seek assistance and engage directly with their representative.
Leader of the Nationals David Littleproud said it was an exciting day for Hervey Bay, with Mr Batt making it crucial to have as much community engagement and feedback as possible from locals.
“This office opening isn’t just about David Batt but about the people of Hervey Bay, who deserve to have their voices heard,” Mr Littleproud said.
“We are proud to have Mr Batt as part of our team, after serving the community for much of his working life; 23 years as a police officer, 10 years as a Councillor and Deputy Mayor, from 2017 to 2020 as the State MP for Bundaberg, and as Council’s Community Resilience and Disaster Management Coordinator.
“This new office will cement Mr Batt as a hard-working Federal MP for the area, who listens to everyone.”
The newly elected Hinkler MP said he was excited to deliver on an election commitment to provide this essential service for the Fraser Coast.
“I will fight for all across the diverse electorate of Hinkler,” Mr Batt said.
“The very first official correspondence I sent, following my successful election in May, was a letter to the Special Minister of State seeking permission for a satellite office to be established in Hervey Bay.”
The electorate of Hinkler stretches from Bundaberg to Hervey Bay and covers a diverse region. There are more than 62,000 constituents in the southern part of the electorate, including the townships of Aldershot, Torbanlea, Howard, Burrum Heads, Pacific Haven, Toogoom, River Heads and the major centre of Hervey Bay.
The new office will help constituents access Federal Government services and provide support with issues relating to Centrelink, veterans affairs, immigration, taxation and other Commonwealth matters.
Located at Shop 3/63 Torquay Road, Pialba (between Tackleworld and Cartridge World), the office will be open Monday to Friday. Constituents can request appointments with Mr Batt by phoning the Hervey Bay office on 4128 3461.
