Entries open for Hervey Bay Half Marathon

ENTIRES have officially opened for the inaugural Hervey Bay Half Marathon Festival, which will be held on Sunday, 21 June 2026.

The new event is set to showcase the Fraser Coast with a fast and scenic course, designed to attract runners, walkers and families from across the region and beyond.

Organisers say the festival will not only highlight the natural beauty of Hervey Bay but also provide an inclusive sporting opportunity for people of all ages and abilities.

The program will feature a 21.1km half marathon as the headline event, alongside a 10km race, a 5km run, a 5km walk and a 2km mini marathon.

By offering a variety of distances, the festival aims to cater for both experienced athletes chasing personal bests and newcomers looking for a more relaxed introduction to community running.

Strong community interest has already been reported, with local groups, schools and sporting clubs expected to be well represented on the day.

The festival is backed by the Fraser Coast Regional Council and McDonald’s, providing the event with key partnerships to ensure its long-term growth.

Organisers are encouraging early registrations, noting that Super Early Bird rates are available for those who sign up in advance.

Places are expected to fill quickly, particularly for the half marathon, which has already drawn enquiries from interstate participants.

The course is expected to appeal to those seeking a competitive edge, while also offering a friendly and welcoming atmosphere for first-time entrants.

The Hervey Bay Half Marathon Festival is being positioned as more than just a race.

It is seen as an opportunity to promote healthy living, boost community spirit and attract visitors to the Fraser Coast.

Local businesses, cafés and accommodation providers are also expected to benefit from the influx of participants and spectators, with the festival timed to take advantage of the mild winter conditions in the region.

Entries can be made online, with full details available at https://herveybayhalfmarathon.com.au/

With June 2026 now on the horizon, the countdown is underway for an event organisers hope will become a permanent highlight on Queensland’s running calendar.
