Educators celebrated on World Teachers’ Day
TEACHERS across Hervey Bay inspired, supported, and empowered children and young people as the community came together to celebrate World Teachers’ Day Queensland.
The occasion was an opportunity to officially thank local educators for their dedication and the positive impact they make every day.
Among those recognised was Belinda Skinner, a teacher at Carinity Education Glendyne.
The Hervey Bay special assistance school supports young people who have not found success in mainstream schooling or have faced barriers to education.
Belinda was drawn to teaching at Glendyne because it provided “a safe and nurturing environment for young people who need education delivered differently.”
“I’m passionate about helping students rediscover their confidence and develop lifelong skills through creativity, compassion, and connection,” she said.
“Glendyne’s focus on tailored support and wellbeing aligns perfectly with my belief that every student deserves an education that meets them where they are and inspires them to grow.”
“I love watching students experience success in ways they never thought possible: whether it’s mastering a literacy skill, creating an expressive artwork, or simply engaging with learning again after a difficult journey.”
Throughout her time at Carinity Education Glendyne, one of Belinda’s highlights has been seeing students use technology and creative tools to express their understanding of literacy.
“One student who once avoided reading ended up producing a digital story with sound and imagery that blew everyone away,” Belinda said.
“It was a powerful reminder that when we differentiate and personalise learning, incredible things happen.”
“Seeing that spark of pride and self-belief is the most rewarding part of teaching.”
Across Hervey Bay, schools celebrated World Teachers’ Day with morning teas, thank-you messages, and student tributes, honouring the teachers who continue to inspire and guide young people throughout the community.
