FRASER Coast’s writers, educators, and creatives are invited to explore the power of storytelling at the upcoming Indigiverse Creative Writing Workshop, taking place at USC Hervey Bay on Thursday, July 17, from 5:30pm to 7:00pm.

Presented by Screen Fraser Coast, the 90-minute, hands-on session will be led by acclaimed facilitators Scott Wilson and Blake Innes, and is designed to inspire participants to tap into personal identity, culture, and lived experience to fuel their creative writing.

“Screen Fraser Coast believes in empowering our local storytellers,” said Co-Chair Amy Friesen.

“Working with Scott and Blake will not only be inspiring but open up a whole new world to our writers and help them harness that powerful story within. Come along and become part of the Indigiverse family!”

Participants can expect a dynamic program of interactive writing activities, real-time reflection and sharing, and practical tools for writing culturally grounded stories. 

The workshop also explores the importance of holding space for multiple truths within a shared narrative.

Scott Wilson, a Gooniyandi and Gajerrong man from the Kimberley, is a respected cultural advocate and co-founder of multiple First Nations-owned companies. 

Blake Innes, Managing Director of HiveMind Press, brings a unique perspective as co-creator of the Indigiverse superhero universe.

The workshop is open to the public, with tickets priced at $45 for non-members and $30 for Screen Fraser Coast members.
