YOUTH are often at the forefront of social movements and advocacy efforts. Their passion for justice and equality is a powerful force for positive change. Whether addressing environmental concerns, advocating for human rights, or championing inclusivity, young activists inspire communities to unite in pursuit of a better world. Their enthusiasm and determination serves as a catalyst for meaningful transformation.
While young individuals bring fresh perspectives, they are also the torchbearers of our cultural heritage and traditions. Encouraging an appreciation for history and heritage instils a sense of pride and belonging within the community. This intergenerational exchange of knowledge ensures that our cultural legacy endures for generations to come.
The Fraser Coast Young Professionals (FCYP) group is designed to bring a network of younger Business Owners, Trade Professionals, Managers and aspiring Employees together for regular events to share knowledge and develop relationships.
FCYP has a target audience of ages 18 through to 40 and was reinvigorated in 2022. The group hosts events every two months and the committee meet on a needs basis and endeavours to attend community and business events.
President for FCYP Sara Diana Faraj, says the committee aspires to foster an environment where young professionals can feel welcome, comfortable, and well supported. “We want to be an accessible group for young professionals, to feel that they have somewhere to go,” says Sara. “We want to promote that careers can be created and pursued in the Fraser Coast.”
Sara and her committee are passionate about ensuring current and future generations have a place to go wherein they can connect with like – minded young professionals who may be in the early stages of their career path or are well established in their careers and are looking to mentor others.
Investing in the education and skills development of young individuals is an investment in the economic prosperity of our communities. Equipping them with the knowledge and tools they need to excel in the workforce ensures a robust and competitive economy. Moreover, instilling a sense of responsibility towards sustainable practices prepares the next generation to address the global challenges of the future.
The Fraser Coast is forever changing and there is enormous potential to retain our youth and talent. Many industries within our region declare there is a shortage of skilled workers, and it is time to address this gap. It is groups like FCYP that will encourage a change and give belief to school leavers that a career can be built and considered a long-term outcome.
