GET ready for a fun and thought-provoking adventure as Z-PAC Theatre unveils not one but two one-act plays: ‘Chook Chook’ and ‘Snagged’.
Directed by theatrical virtuoso, Judith La Forest, renowned for her 2021 hit, ‘One Flew Over The Cuckoo’s Nest,’ this double production promises an unforgettable experience.
‘Chook Chook’, is a whimsical and satirical exploration of our responses to various forms of confinement, whether they are political, emotional, or conventional.
The story unfolds within the confines of a chicken shed, where Valmai, Crissy, Georgia, and Bron amusingly refer to their cages as ‘apartments.’
Their lives intriguingly mirror our own, as they partake in the same monotonous daily routine, bathed in the artificial glow of a continuous ‘sun’ (fluorescent light).
In ‘Snagged,’ prepare to be moved by a poignant yet uproarious tale about coming of age and self-discovery, with a touch of vegetarian sausages.
Sam and her best friend, Beth, have grand dreams of launching their careers and exploring Brisbane’s world of eligible bachelors upon their high school graduation.
However, Sam’s world takes an unexpected twist when she crosses paths with Josh.
Director Judith La Forest expresses her enthusiasm for these one-act treasures, “When choosing plays to conclude Z-PAC’s major productions for 2023, I sought fast-paced comedies because, let’s be honest, who doesn’t cherish a good laugh?”
La Forest adds, “I chanced upon two One Act Plays, ‘Snagged’ and ‘Chook Chook,’ and was instantly captivated by their compelling characters and impactful messages.”
Despite addressing weighty issues, both plays culminate in delightful, deeply satisfying, and uplifting conclusions that are bound to leave you in fits of laughter. Judith La Forest guarantees, “You will leave thoroughly entertained by our talented casts. Be prepared to laugh heartily!”
