Carols by Candlelight lights up the Bay
HERVEY Bay’s most beloved Christmas tradition is set to light up Seafront Oval once again, with the annual Hervey Bay Carols by Candlelight returning on Saturday, December 13.
The event, proudly presented by the Hervey Bay Christian Ministers Association and 360 Degrees Marketing, will bring together thousands of locals for an evening of festive music, joy, and community spirit.
The celebration will feature The Hervey Bay Carols Band, local choirs and dance groups, a dedicated kids’ section (complete with a visit from Santa), and
a spectacular Active Agents Fireworks Finale.
This year’s Carols will welcome a special guest — The Voice Australia 2021 winner and internationally recognised artist Bella Taylor Smith.
Now based in Nashville, Tennessee, Bella has toured with global names such as Jeremy Camp, PENTATONIX, and Riley Clemmons, captivating audiences worldwide with her soulful voice and uplifting message.
“No matter what kind of year you’ve had, Carols is a place where everyone is welcome — where we can come together as one community and celebrate the hope and joy that Christmas brings,” said Event Coordinator Luke Strochnetter.
“The Hervey Bay Carols by Candlelight is a much-loved tradition that’s been held in our community for over 30 years,” said Luke.
“Christmas is a special time where we get to come together and remember the
real meaning of Christmas but also come together as a community to spread joy, hope, love and peace — all things that we need more than ever.
“The heart of our Carols has always been to be a safe, welcoming place where all families and people can come and gather, no matter what type of year you’ve had.”
“We want to continue to make sure Carols is accessible, so this year we’re introducing an optional gold coin donation at entry to help offset rising event costs.”
“We are also incredibly excited to announce Bella Taylor Smith as our special guest performer.”
“We’re so grateful to all the businesses who support the Carols and to the Hervey Bay Christian Ministers Association who present this event and do so much for the community.”
This year’s Carols will also include glowstick candles for purchase, with proceeds supporting School Chaplains and Religious Instruction (RI) programs in local schools — helping to continue their vital work with young people across the Fraser Coast.
Fraser Coast Mayor George Seymour said the Carols by Candlelight remains one of the region’s most cherished Christmas traditions.
“It’s a time when our community truly shines, and Council is proud to support such a positive and inclusive event,” Cr Seymour said.
The event is supported by a number of local partners, including Presenting Partners Hervey Bay Christian Ministers Association and 360 Degrees Marketing, Gold Partner Fraser Coast Regional Council, Silver Partners The Salty Axe, Universal Home Improvements, and Aquavue Beachfront Bar & Eatery, and Fireworks Sponsor Active Agents.
Gates open at 3pm with food stalls, live entertainment, and community activities before the main program begins at 6pm, concluding with the spectacular Active Agents Fireworks Finale at 8pm.
Families are encouraged to bring a picnic rug or chairs and enjoy an evening filled with festive music, laughter, and Christmas spirit.
