HERVEY Bay’s most cherished Christmas tradition is set to shine once again as thousands prepare to gather at Seafront Oval for the annual Carols by Candlelight on Saturday, December 13.
Presented by the Hervey Bay Christian Ministers Association and 360 Degrees Marketing, the event remains a cornerstone of the region’s festive calendar, drawing families, friends, and visitors for an evening of music and community celebration.
This year’s program features performances by The Hervey Bay Carols Band, local choirs, dance groups and a dedicated children’s area, complete with a much-anticipated visit from Santa.
The evening will culminate in the always-popular Active Agents Fireworks Finale, lighting up the night sky in true Christmas style.
Adding star power to the 2025 lineup is special guest Bella Taylor Smith, winner of The Voice Australia 2021 and an internationally recognised artist.
Now based in Nashville and having toured with global acts including Jeremy Camp, PENTATONIX and Riley Clemmons, Bella’s appearance is expected to
be a major drawcard for the community.
Event Coordinator Luke Strochnetter said the heart of Carols has always been about welcoming everyone, no matter the year they’ve had.
“No matter what kind of year you’ve had, Carols is a place where everyone is welcome — where we can come together as one community and celebrate the hope and joy that Christmas brings,” he said.
Glowstick candles will again be available for purchase, with proceeds supporting School Chaplains and Religious Instruction programs in local schools.
Mayor George Seymour said the event continues to showcase the community at its best.
“It’s a time when our community truly shines, and Council is proud to support such a positive and inclusive event,” Cr Seymour said.
Gates open at 3pm, with food stalls and live entertainment leading into the main program at 6pm and fireworks at 8pm.
Families are encouraged to bring chairs or a picnic rug for an evening of festive fun.
