DURING Christmas, fresh food and produce take centre stage for families, embodying the essence of seasonal abundance and culinary tradition.

When it comes to the supply of fresh whole foods, Fraser Coast Fresh is your one-stop-shop, with more than 4,000 customers visiting the store every week.

Operator Joep Dekker is expecting a bumper demand for fresh food this year.

“We are already starting earlier and closing later to deal with the demand. We are open from 7:00am every day leading into Christmas,” Jeop said.

“Australia’s obsession with fresh food and cooking has really exploded over the last few years. Customers want to be more aware now than ever, about where their food comes from.”

“We deal direct with the farmers. We pay them direct. They get a good price and we get an awesome product. It works for everyone. There is no storage. It’s straight from the farm to the store and straight home to the customer.”

“Farm to Plate is a big movement and our customers want to know what they are eating and where it’s coming from.”

“When it comes to healthy choices, it’s cheaper to buy fruit and vegetables here than it is to buy take-away.”

When asked what people are wanting for Christmas this year, Joep had some staples that always draw a crowd.

“Christmas is the biggest time of the year for us. Stone Fruit is huge. People from all ages just love it.”

“It’s sweet and tasty and there is a big variety of it. There is something for everyone.”

The size of the Fraser Coast Fresh business is staggering, and their direct famer to store ethos is kind to the wallet.

“We have around 1,200 different products here. We sell 100 tonne of tomatoes a year, 200 tonne of bananas a year, it just goes on and on.”

“With Christmas coming up, we look forward to helping families put a nice healthy meal on the table, at a very reasonable price.”
