ON A RECENT trip to Hervey Bay, Director of Toonworld Mike Wheeler was introduced to the young aspiring artist Scarlet Bromell through a friend.
Instantly captivated by her outgoing personality and love for drawing, he proposed that she come to a creativity workshop to see if she was interested in learning and teaching cartooning sessions to kids her own age.
Scarlet responded with a resounding “Yes!” wholeheartedly.
Scarlet, who is only 11 years old and attends Torquay State School, possesses incredible confidence.
Scarlet moved to Australia from New Zealand last year, bringing her love for art along with her.
She has been doing art her entire life and especially enjoys drawing and painting, but anything creative sparks her interest.
She has a younger brother, loves running, sports, and spending time with her family.
“Art is my favourite hobby because I can express myself and there are no boundaries,” Scarlet said.
Her passion for art is matched by her desire to share it with others.
“I want to share my passion and do art with other kids.”
Scarlet believes that art can be a powerful tool for self-expression and comfort.
“Because I struggle with anxiety, art comforts me and lets me de-stress.”
Her drive to help others find their creative voices is evident.
“I love stepping out of my comfort zone to extend myself so I can get new experiences.”
This adventurous spirit, combined with her natural talent and empathy, makes her an ideal fit to be a Toonworld ambassador.
Scarlet ran two workshops under the guidance of Mike from Toonworld during the June school holiday with both sessions being a complete success for the young Toonpreneur.
“She connected with the kids instantly, guiding them through the basics of cartooning with patience and enthusiasm,” said Mike.
“Her story is a testament to her belief that nothing is impossible for anyone.”
“Scarlet’s creative ambition and her drive to help others find theirs make her a beacon of inspiration in her community and a perfect representative of Toonworld’s values.”
