40th Anniversary of the Rotary Club of Hervey Bay City

ON 16TH August 1984, twenty-three business and professional leaders from the Hervey Bay area were presented with a charter that officially formed the Rotary Club of Hervey Bay City. At that time, the population of Hervey Bay was 20,000, and the club earned the name Hervey Bay City as the town had just been proclaimed a city.

At the Club's recent Changeover event, held at the Kondari Resort in Urangan in June, members celebrated the Club’s 40th Anniversary with a special cake. Two of the original Charter Members, Ray Hamlyn and Des Richters, had the honor of cutting the cake amidst much applause and celebration from the attendees. This event marked a significant milestone in the Club’s history, reflecting on four decades of community service and fellowship.

Next year will be the 70th anniversary of the Rotary Club of Hervey Bay, which was chartered in 1955 and served as the 'parent' club of Hervey Bay City. Plans for a celebration are underway, with details yet to be organized.

The City Club remains very active in the community, engaging in both local and international projects. The club’s ongoing efforts continue to positively impact the lives of many, demonstrating the enduring value of their work.
